Managed print connectivity
Keep a print fleet reporting its own meter readings, faults and toner levels, including at sites with no suitable network to plug into. Connectivity supplied, monitored and supported by us.
What it does
Managed print works by each printer reporting back: how many pages it has printed, whether anything is wrong, and how much toner is left. When that data flows, toner arrives before it is needed and faults are fixed before anyone calls.
When it does not, meter readings are chased by email, toner runs out on a Friday afternoon, and bills are based on estimates.

Page counts sent automatically, so billing is accurate without anyone reading a display.
Jams and errors reported as they happen, so the engineer arrives with the right part.
Supplies ordered before they run out, not after.
Branches, shops and site offices reporting to one place.
Why printers go quiet
Print reporting usually travels over the office network. That works in a head office, and breaks down in the places managed print is hardest to run.
Small sites often have no spare network point, or one the print supplier is not allowed onto.
Firewalls and segregated networks can stop reporting traffic getting out.
Site offices and pop-ups rarely have a network worth relying on.
The fix: a SIM gives the printer, or a small router beside it, its own connection, separate from your network.
About IoT SIMsWhy a SIM
Print reporting uses very little data, but it needs to get out reliably. A dedicated connection does exactly that.
Reporting runs separately, so there is no need to open up your firewall.
Stays connected in back offices where one network is weak.
Tiny amounts of data, pooled across the whole fleet.
Every printer connection on one bill.

Working with your print supplier
Most businesses already have a print or copier supplier. We supply and support the connectivity that lets their reporting work, and work alongside them rather than replacing them.
If you are setting up managed print from scratch, we can help you plan the approach and the kit.
A SIM-connected printer can report from day one, before the site network is even installed.

Common questions
Not always. In an office with a suitable network, printers usually report over it. A SIM helps where there is no suitable network, where security rules block reporting, or across many small sites.
Very little. Meter readings and alerts are small messages, and pooled data across the fleet keeps the cost low and predictable.
Yes. We supply the connection, and your print supplier keeps servicing the printers and using the data.
Yes. The printer connection can be kept private and separate from your business network, so it is not on the open internet or opening a route into your systems.
Yes, and that is where it helps most. Every SIM sits on one account, with pooled data and one team to contact.
