Do you supply the energy yourselves?
No. We are a broker, not a supplier. Your contract is with the energy supplier and they bill you directly. What we do is find the contract, negotiate it, set it up and look after it for you.
When should I be looking at my renewal?
Earlier than most people think. Many business contracts can be renewed several months ahead of the end date, which lets you fix a price when the market suits rather than when your calendar says so. Leave it to the last week and your options narrow to whatever is available that day.
What happens if I do nothing when my contract ends?
You do not get cut off, but you will normally be moved onto the supplier's out-of-contract or deemed rates, which are typically their most expensive. There is no penalty for letting it happen except the cost, which is exactly why it is so easy to miss.
Am I a micro business, and does that change anything?
It might. Ofgem treats you as a micro business if you employ fewer than ten people and have turnover or a balance sheet of no more than €2 million, or if you use no more than 100,000 kWh of electricity or 293,000 kWh of gas a year. Micro businesses get extra protection: your supplier must set out renewal terms in writing with a proper notice window, and cannot roll you onto a new fixed contract longer than twelve months. Those protections sit with the supplier rather than with us, and they do not stop you drifting onto out-of-contract rates if nothing is agreed. Tell us your headcount and rough annual usage and we will tell you where you stand.
Can you look at more than one site?
Yes, and multi-site is usually where the biggest difference is. Separate contracts signed at different times drift apart badly. We map every supply you have, align the end dates where we can, and give you one renewal conversation instead of five.
I am mid-contract. Is it too early to talk?
No. Knowing your end date and getting it diarised is worth doing today even if nothing can change for a year. We can also check your current bills against your contract in the meantime, which sometimes finds money whether or not you switch.
What do you need from me to get started?
A recent bill for each fuel at each site, and a signed letter of authority so we can talk to suppliers on your behalf. That is it. The letter of authority lets us ask questions and gather quotes, and it does not commit you to switching anything.
