SoGEA business broadband
Business broadband with no line rental and no reliance on the analogue network being switched off. We check availability, move your calls to VoIP and handle the switch.
What it is
SoGEA uses the same fibre-to-the-cabinet technology as the fibre broadband most businesses already have. Fibre runs to the street cabinet, and the existing copper line covers the last stretch to your premises.
The difference is what is taken away. Traditional fibre broadband also carried an analogue phone service, which is why it came with line rental. SoGEA delivers the broadband on its own: no dial tone, no line rental, just the connection.

Stop paying for a voice line your business no longer uses.
The analogue network is being withdrawn by 31 January 2027. SoGEA does not rely on it.
Wherever fibre-to-the-cabinet broadband exists, SoGEA can usually be provided.
A hosted phone system or Teams calling handles your calls, and numbers can usually move across.
Compare
If full fibre is available at your address, it is usually the better long-term choice. Where it is not, SoGEA is the natural replacement for fibre with a phone line.
Your calls
SoGEA has no analogue phone service, so calls move onto the internet using VoIP. For most businesses that is an upgrade, not a compromise.
Desk phones, mobiles and computers on one system, with your numbers on every device.
Make and take real phone calls inside the Microsoft Teams you already use.
Your existing numbers can usually move across, so customers keep calling the ones they know.

The PSTN switch-off guideBefore you switch
Some equipment was built to use an analogue phone line. On SoGEA it needs a different connection, so list everything plugged into a phone socket before the line is removed.
Monitored intruder and fire alarms often dial out over the phone line.
The mandatory emergency line needs a digital or SIM-based alternative.
Some older units still connect over a phone line rather than broadband.
Easy to overlook, and they stop working the day the line goes.
Our guide to alarms, lifts and the devices that fail quietly explains what to check, and we will go through it with you as part of the switch.

Common questions
Single Order Generic Ethernet Access. In plain terms, it is fibre broadband delivered without an analogue phone line.
No. That is the point of it. You pay for the broadband only, and your calls move to a VoIP system such as a hosted phone system.
Usually, yes. Your existing numbers can normally be moved to a hosted phone system or Microsoft Teams calling.
Up to 80Mbps download and 20Mbps upload, depending mainly on how far your premises is from the street cabinet. We can check the expected speed for your address.
No. SoGEA uses fibre to the street cabinet and copper for the final stretch. Full fibre, or FTTP, runs fibre all the way to your building and is much faster.
Not if it relies on an analogue phone line. Alarm panels and lift phones need a different connection, such as a digital or SIM-based alternative. Check with your alarm company before switching.
Yes. SoGEA is available wherever fibre-to-the-cabinet broadband exists, and we supply business broadband across the UK.
